The Homer Watson House & Gallery is the homestead of Homer Watson, Canada's first noted landscape artist (1855-1936). The Gallery, constructed in 1906, is one of the oldest operating galleries in the Province of Ontario, Canada. Watson's early Victorian house was also the home of the renowned Doon School of Fine Arts during the 1950's and 60's.

The Raleigh City Museum invited area photographers to present their concepts of a "Portrait of Raleigh." Over 350 submissions were reviewed by a jury, and the result is an eclectic glimpse of the many facets of the Capitol City. The judges met and narrowed down the field to 40 images, created by 18 area photographers, that will be featured in this exhibition. Diana has three pieces in this exhibit, two of which are pinhole.

Pinhole photography is photography at its most basic. All that is required is a light tight chamber with a small hole at one end, photo- sensitive material at the other, and some simple shutter to control the exposure. Often hand made, these simple devices produce images that have unique visual qualities. The students in this workshop will learn to make simple pinhole cameras, calculate proper exposure, and produce paper negatives and prints.

Participants wanted to take part in a collaborative pinhole project to clean up and re-engage with our surroundings, and learn about the art of pinhole photography. Jamie invites anyone to take part in this collaborative project, he will gather people together worldwide to collect discarded drinks cans, and convert them into home-made pinhole cameras. Later these cans will take photographs of the environment they where found in, the aim is to replace litter with a creative vision, the cans are later recycled.

George Arthur Lareau's new book of pinhole bodyscapes is now available. This album of bodyscapes was made with two pinhole cameras. Both of the cameras are commercially available for about $50 each. One is the Pinhole Blender Mini 120 and the other is the Holga 120WPC. The Pinhole Blender curves the film and multiple images can be overlapped and blended with feathered edges. The Holga is a wide-angle camera, producing 6x9cm and 6x12cm rectilinear images. Read full posting...

Sunday evening, May 31, 2009, marked the end of Pinhole Season for the ninth annual Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day celebration. That is the last day that folks could submit the photograph they made on Pinhole Day itself, April 26, for inclusion in the online gallery at www.pinholeday.org. This year's event surpassed all previous celebrations for the number and breadth of locally organized Pinhole Day events. Over 160 events were held throughout the world to mark the occasion. These included exhibitions, lectures, workshops, classroom participation and people gathered together to wander about their locale creating tiny aperture images. Read full posting...
