The Art of Pinhole Photography

[Getting Started] [Cameras] [Pinholes] [Supplies] [Community] [Inspiration] [Teaching Others] [Going Further]

Before buying a pinhole, consider making your own. Its as easy as pricking a piece of foil with a needle - literally. An aluminum soda can be cut to make an adequate piece of foil, and a small sewing needle is all you need.

Just as with pinhole cameras, there are lots of detailed instructions on the internet on how to make a pinhole. The Pinhole FAQ has good instructions and is a good place to start.

Some people want the sharpest pinhole images they can make. I usually suggest buying a lens camera for this purpose. But, if you strive for that super sharp pinhole photo, here are some places you can buy perfect pinholes in measured sizes.
